This study evaluates the relative technical efficiency of the Hospital de la Mujer (HM) and Hospital General Regional 1 (HGR1) Charo in Morelia, Michoacán, over 2014–2020. Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with output-oriented CCR and BCC models, total clinical staff and staffed beds serve as inputs, while hospital discharges and attended births are outputs. The HM demonstrated consistently high efficiency, whereas HGR1 Charo exhibited greater performance variability. Results indicate that efficiency depends not solely on resource availability but on how resources are organized and deployed. Proper alignment between human resources and infrastructure is key to improving public hospital operational performance.
