ESTIMACIÓN DEL DESEMPLEO FEMENINO OCULTO: UN ANÁLISIS REGIONAL
Abstract
The changes observed on the unemployment definition in the Encuesta de
Población Activa (EPA) have been a quite controversial issue. Harder
requirements to be considered as an active laboring individual generate
lower levels in the official rate of unemployment. This paper goes in a
contrary, and it postulates that the official rates of unemployment –
specially the rates of unemployment of women – have been underestimated
through the last 25 years. The objective of this work is to quantify the
hidden unemployment among women in the Spanish Autonomous
Communities.
