Abstract

The family business or capitalist workshop of artisan production are predominant social organizations in the Pátzcuaro-Zirahuén region; considered by the authors as generating sources ofincome that for sorne represent the only means of subsisten ce and for others are complementary to the family economy. In addition, they play a role within the local economy, because they materialize the culture and traditions that are representative for tourism in the region. The consolidation of a culture towards continuous improvement, not only solves the permanence of the millennial activity that they carry out, but also con tributes to the improvement of the quality oflife of its members. With the strengthening oflocal capacities in organizations of the social solidarity economy as a development strategy, innovation processes are integrated that contribute to the construction of social, economic and technological collaboration networks from the connection and participation of local actors, therefore, can be seen as an alternative endogenous approach to local economic development.
