bout 95% of homes in Mexico do not have earthquake insurance according to the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS). This despite the fact that much of the national territory is exposed to seismic risks. The objectives of this research are to carry out a microeconomic analysis of the behavior of insurance against these natural phenomena and a stochastic modeling using Markov chains of seismic activity in the country, to demonstrate the risks of these events, as well as their economic implications. In future investigations it is considered to make a regionalized analysis and considering other branches.
